Pantry pump system

Wilo DrainLift pantry pump system installed under a pantry sink in a Singapore commercial building

A pantry pump system is used to pump used water from a pantry sink or wash basin to the nearest outgoing waste pipeline — usually the nearby toilet discharge pipe. Waves Fluid Engineering Pte Ltd designs, supplies, installs, services, repairs and replaces these systems for offices and commercial buildings across Singapore.

Also known as: hand wash station pump, wash basin lift pump, solo-lift pump, hi-drain lift pump, basin water pumping station, portable toilet pump and commercial drainage lift pump. All refer to the same type of system.

Why pantry pumps are needed

In high-rise buildings — especially MNC offices and buildings in the CBD area — pantries are installed with a water tap point, but the unit often has no floor trap and no waste water pipeline to let used water flow away by gravity. The water collected in the pantry sink therefore has to be pumped up and across to the nearest outgoing pipeline. That is exactly what a pantry pump system does.

System configurations

We supply pantry pump systems in three configurations, depending on the level of protection and monitoring you need:

1

Stand-alone pantry pump

Just the pump — collects and discharges pantry waste water to the outgoing pipeline.

2

With leak detector sensor

Adds a leak sensor, control panel and normally-open solenoid valve that cuts off incoming water on a leak.

3

With leak detector + SMS alert

Adds an SMS module so your team is alerted immediately on a pump fault or water leak.

Components of a pantry pump system

A complete system with leak protection is built from the following parts. Other options and sizes are available on request.

  4. On your approval, carry out the works with utmost quality.

Servicing — before and after

Pantry pumps collect grease, food residue and sludge over time, which is the most common cause of blockage, odour and pump failure. Regular servicing keeps the system running reliably.

Frequently asked questions

What is a pantry pump system?
It is a compact pumping unit installed under a pantry sink or wash basin that collects used water and pumps it to the nearest outgoing waste pipeline — usually the nearby toilet discharge pipe. It is also called a hand wash station pump, solo-lift pump, wash basin lift pump or hi-drain lift pump.
Why does my office pantry need a pump?
Most high-rise commercial and CBD office units have a pantry with a water tap point but no floor trap or waste water pipeline to drain used water away by gravity. A pantry pump collects that water and pumps it across to the nearest outgoing pipeline.
Which pantry pump brands do you supply?
We supply Wilo (DrainLift MINI3-XS), Homac (550-N3), Mepcato UPLIFT (40L and 70L tank stations) and Sanivite, with Grundfos Sololift2 and Tsurumi also available on request. We recommend the model based on your flow, discharge distance and available space.
What is the leak detector and auto shut-off option?
A leak sensor is fitted in the SS304 drip tray under the pump. If water is detected, the customised control panel raises an alarm and a normally-open solenoid valve automatically cuts off the incoming water supply. The panel also has a dry contact so the signal can be connected to your building's BMS.
Can I get an SMS alert when there is a fault or leak?
Yes. We can add an SMS module to the system so your facilities team is alerted immediately by SMS if the pump becomes faulty or a water leak is detected — useful for unmanned pantries and after-hours protection.
How often should a pantry pump be serviced?
We recommend quarterly or monthly servicing depending on usage. Pantry pumps accumulate grease, food residue and sludge inside the container, which is the most common cause of blockage, odour and pump failure. We offer scheduled servicing contracts.
Do you repair existing or other-brand pantry pumps?
Yes. We visit at your convenience, identify the fault in the existing system or parts, provide an obligation-free quotation, and carry out the repair or replacement works on your approval — including Wilo and Grundfos Sololift units.
Do you provide a warranty?
Yes. We use genuine spare parts from globally recognised manufacturers and provide a one-year warranty on products changed and/or installed by us at your premises, subject to terms and conditions.
